With the steps of the Lunar New Year, we greet another brand-new semester. As the saying goes, the whole year’s work depends on a good start in spring. Therefore, we are possessed with more expectations and yearning, since spring is a season to sow hopes. Also, we expect to achieve more glorious victories than we did last year.
At 8.28 A.M. on 27th February, at the Lecture Hall, Anqing Foreign Language School observed the grand opening of the 2017 100-Day Oath-Taking Rally regarding a Decisive Battle in College Entrance Examination for students in Grade 12. In attendance were President Madam Huang Wenli, Vice Principal Liu Bing, Division Chairman as well as all teachers and students from Grade 12. The grand ceremony, consisting of 9 agendas, was chaired by Director Xu Haihong.
In the first place, the playing of the national anthem.
At this sacred moment, Senior Three students’ youths were bursting with passion while their ideals leapt up at the solemn palace hall!
In the second place, the address from the teacher representative.
Teacher Jiang Zhengying solemnly encouraged everyone on behalf of all teachers in Grade 12. He was quoted as saying that ‘Preparing too much but proceeding for a short while, we start to prepare at the last moment. Here comes the critical point of the College Entrance Examination countdown. In the days ahead, each and every student is supposed to lay down the burden, go forward with your burdens discarded, set your mind at rest to carry forward the never-say-die-and-strive spirit. In the meantime, students should not hesitate or wander. With the joint effort of teachers and students, our students are able to prepare for the Chinese Gao Kao wholeheartedly to submit a satisfactory answer to parents, society, school and create another new glory in the College Entrance Exam for Anqing Foreign Language School!’

Zhou Yingna with Class 1, Grade 12 spoke on behalf of all Senior Three students. She put forward five requirements in the name of ideals as follows: keep our resolve and challenge a new height bravely; Aim for the highest and be pragmatic; Stay focused and be unperturbed; Seize the day against the clock; Cherish the test and exercise our state of mind.
In the fourth place, statements sent from head teachers.
Head teachers from Class 1 to Class 10 expressed their wishes respectively and hoped that all students would make persistent effort in the subsequent 100 days for the decisive battle. To students, failure was not an option. Meanwhile, head teachers came up with favorable hopes for students’ future life in that they were supposed to attend school and become meaningful people!
In the fifth place, a keynote speech from the Division Chairman.
Division Director Xu Zuitai raised several proposals for Senior Three students: First, they should strengthen their conviction. The reason for success lies in the determination to win. Second, students must overcome two incorrect tendencies, which are the blundering mood and the inevitable outcome point of view. Third, the secret of happiness is characterized by appreciation mentality, positive status in addition to dedicated willpower.

At the assembly room, students took a solemn oath and were quoted as saying:
‘We are full-fledged eagles and green peaks which can stand severe training and hammering. During the 100-day sprint, we get ready for the fight and pragmatically make perfection more perfect. We have no excuse for failure or retreat. Instead, we come down to earth and strive, full of passion and energy. Let us struggle hard for 100 days and win a proud smile in June. Let our parents and teachers feel relieved because we have high morale with unbounded confidence. Besides, we are high-spirited and vigorous to create another glory!’
In the seventh place, the address from Principal Assistant Qian Zhihong.
Principal Assistant Qian encouraged students to undergo self-imposed hardships so as to reinforce their resolve and cut off all means of retreat. The 100-day sprint was closely linked to students’ fate of life. Thus, in the last 100 days, students should have a good mood and gain a lot every day for the reason that perseverance prevails. At the decisive moment, to struggle then win!

Anqing Foreign Language School’s President Madam Huang Wenli and Vice Principal Liu Bing unveiled the 100-day countdown nameplate of the Chinese Gao Kao, which officially opened the solemn and sacred moment. Other than that, Madam President expressed her sincere wishes for Senior Three students.

At the end of the conference, with the lively school song, students signed their names, resolution and faith on the banner. We firmly believe that students from Anqing Foreign Language School shall not only definitely weave colorful hopes and dreams with striving and wisdom, but also write their magnificence and glory in life with regretless youth and passion!
